Even with the Bat­tlestar Galac­tica com­pleted, there are many more sto­ries that can be told, and some of them will be with more TV movies in the future. First one of these movies is The Plan. Each episode in the first two sea­sons were always start­ing with a short intro and say­ing the Cylons have the plan and that this plan included anni­hi­la­tion of the human race. So, now, finally we will see what the Plan was and why they aban­don it.

Story

The Plan starts with exe­cu­tion of two brother Cav­ils that hap­pen in the sea­son 2 when we learned that Cylons have changed their minds on the whole destruc­tion of human­ity, and than we go back to just a few days before destruc­tion of the colonies aboard the Cylons base stars. And from that point The Plan is show­ing every­thing we already seen but from the Cylons per­spec­tive. And at least 30% of the movie is made from the scenes taken from the series that were used to glue together all the new elements.

For the most part it’s inter­est­ing to see new story ele­ments, to see the from Cylons per­spec­tive but really there is noth­ing new, noth­ing we didn’t already know from the series itself. Some of the story ele­ments were new, but they are noth­ing spe­cial, we already could assume what hap­pened with Cylons. Series offered enough info dur­ing all sea­sons with fol­low­ing all impor­tant Cylon related events. I expected to see some­thing new, some­thing that will go deeper to explain the Cylons inva­sion beside already used God vs Gods explanation.

Char­ac­ters

Cylons are in the cen­ter of the story, so we will see much more of them, and once again Tri­cia Helfer is amaz­ing play­ing sev­eral dif­fer­ent ver­sions of the Six. But, all the other human char­ac­ters are here except for pres­i­dent Roslin and only minor appear­ances of Dr. Baltar.

Pro­duc­tion

The Plan looks amaz­ing. Spe­cial effects are bet­ter then in the series, it fea­tures the same music as the series and is directed by Edward James Olmos. But all that is not enough when the story fails.

Con­clu­sion

I expected much more than this. This looks more like the recap episode like the ones we have seen before. Hope­fully we will get more movies in the future that will be much bet­ter than this.
