This is really great show. Smart, entertaining, funny and very well written. And in the end that was this series doom. Due to low ratings series is canceled after the 2 seasons. I just can’t understand why the big TV stations invest a lot of money and than fail to give the show a real chance. And Dirty Sexy Money definitively deserved the chance much beyond the 23 episodes they got. I still have to see season 2, but for now here is season 1.

Story

Dirty Sexy Money is a complex series with the powerful family Darlings in the center and young idealistic lawyer Nick George. His father was Darlings family lawyer until his death, and now they want Nick to take over. But things are very complicated with the big family, and a lot of dark secrets are due to be discovered. Writers really did an excellent job with the main story showing the tension between family members. Writing is funny and smart and that was one of the reasons that this series had low ratings. Once again is proven that general audience is not responding well to a show that requires more engagement in the story and that is not that simple to follow and understand.

Cast

Casting and characters are really excellent. Donald Sutherland stars as head of the Darlings family and as usual he is great in the role. Nick George is played by Peter Krause who is best known for his previous series Six Feet Under. I really liked performance of Natalie Zea as oldest Tripp Darling daughter. The rest of the cast is also very good and includes several less known young actors. There is a lot of back stories and character development that will explain the long family history and they relations to Nick.

Production

ABC invested a lot in the production, great choice of locations used to show the power of the Darlings and great cast. But, even with all that ABC has doomed the show very early and even the series is picked for the second season, it was no secret that they plan to cancel it.

Conclusion

This is not your average drama series, and many people didn’t like it. But I still recommend that you try it and you will not be disappointed.
