ShowtimeSince I have watched complete Stargate at least several times, I always there was always something wrong about this season and that something is missing. But, I watched it again recently and I must admit that this is an excellent season, with several key story plots, resolutions of some older plots and some very funny episodes. Showtime also invested more money, and visually this is so far the best looking season of Stargate.
As the main cast goes, there are no changes this season, but we will see few more recurring characters emerging and we will meet few more Goa’ulds. Most important is the Osiris who was trapped for thousands of years with his wife Isis, and was discovered by the old Daniel Jackson’s professor. Interesting is that there will be no replicators this season except in the first episode that ends the cliffhanger of season 3.
Stories
Once again, there are few episodes that are earth based with a lot of politics and involvement of NID, and this still remains one of the aspects of Stargate I simply don’t like. Involvement of Russians and political games are not something I like in the sci-fi show.
But on the other hand we have some classic episodes like: Upgrades (arm devices that increase strength of SG-1 members), Window of Opportunity (very funny episode with the time loop), The First Ones (about Unas, once first hosts to the Goa’uld), Tangent (first flight of experimental X-301), 2010 (another time paradox episode, really great), Absolute Power (Daniel goes mad with power, Harcesis story) and Exodus, last cliffhanger of the series (until season 9).
Conclusion
Overall, great season of Stargate. Main story lines are still strong, and in the season more than before, with few filler episodes. Grab the box set and start watching.
