SyFyWarehouse 13 is the latest SyFy originial series, premiered in july, and recently completed first series run. W13 features decent writing and very good casting (with some exceptions) to make up for the not so original idea behind the series. In august SyFy renewed the series for the second season, and hopefully they will further improve and correct some of the problems the first season had. But, all in all this is very entertaining show.
Story
Warehouse 13 is a large storage facility somewhere in South Dakota and as the name suggests that it is 13-th incarnation through history way back to Library of Alexandria. And, in this Warehouse are stored objects and artifacts with some unexplained powers, collected throughout the history. W13 is run by very secretive organization in US administration that can even control Secret Service. And, at the beginning we are introduced to two Secret Service agents that are recruited to join the Warehouse team and start collection objects and solve artifact related cases.
Cast
Series cast is excellent for the most part. Starting with the agents Bering and Lattimer played by Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock, they really have a good chemistry and are in a way like Scully and Molder (X-Files), but with constant bickering and making fun of each other. Saul Rubinek is also good as the agent in charge for the Warehouse. Beautiful Genelle Williams plays Leena, mysterious owner of the bad and breakfast near the Warehouse. And, in the middle of the season they are joined by young Claudia Donovan (played by Allison Scagliotti). And she is one annoying character, and one member of the cast too many. She is a total cliche as a hip and techno wiz kid and very annoying. And one thing that should go in season 2.
Production
Visual effects are not that good, and the attempts of using archaic technology is not very well done. This is something they definitively need to improve on.
Conclusion
W13 is fun to watch and very entertaining, and with few improvements in season 2 it can get even to be an excellent show. For now, catch the reruns on SyFu and wait for the DVD release.
